URGENT CLUB NOTICE Tuesday 17 March 2020

Welsh Athletics in consultation with UK Athletics are closing down all athletic activity due to COVID -19 Virus.

 

 

Club Officers met last night, 16th March. Decision was made to close Academy down as from last night, till end of Easter holidays.

 However today's statement from Welsh Athletics, is that ALL athletic activity is suspended until the end of APRIL

Situation will then be reviewed.

Cardiff Athletics Presentation Tuesday 3 March 2020

Club Junior Presentations last Friday at Llandaff Rugby Club was huge success, with all tickets sold out. Despite pouring rain the Presentations was made to a packed audience.

Well done to organising committee comprising of Gayle Farrell, Marie Sparkes, Melanie Gregory, Peter Gregson, and Melanie Stephenson Gray, for making evening such a success, buffet was very good too.

Mike Farrell took many photos of awards that can seen on Cardiff Athletics.

Welsh Cross Championships 2020 Tuesday 3 March 2020

凯极娱乐官网Pembrey Country Park hosted the 116th Welsh XCC. On day that started with early sunshine, leading to a strong bitingly  cold wind with one heavy rain shower. Cardiff Athletics athletes and teams had excellent results, with our senior men and senior womens winning Welsh team titles, despite missing many star runners. That showed our strength in depth is improving, with our MW35 Women team, winning MW35 title for first time.

Club had 2 individual winners with James Hunt senior men, photo, and Jessica Evans U15 Girls. James  took lead from gun, and dominated race winning by 22secs. Ciaran Lewis 2nd and a fast finishing Dan Nash 3rd, was followed home by Michael Kallenberg 7th, Nathan Jones 8th and Mukhtaar Farhan 15th closed team with 38pts. Swansea 2nd 61pts, Pontypridd Roadents 3rd 155pts. Rebecca Evans 3rd led Club winning women's team home, with 3 of our MW35 runners.

Cardiff Athletics 2018/2019 Presentations Tuesday 25 February 2020

On Friday 28th February Club Presentations for 2018/2019 season is taking place at LLandaff Rugby Clubhouse, on Western Avenue, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets £5. Any queries can be answered by contacting Gayle Farrell in club office, or Mark Gold Club Manager. The Awards night is being organised by Pete Gregson, Melonie Gregory, Marie Sparkes, and Gayle Farrell. A separate panel was set up to decide from submissions received for the Simon Lane award.

凯极娱乐官网Normally the Presentation of awards would take place before end of 2019, unfortunately circumstances with booking a venue prevented this from happening. The Performance Awards Selection panel decided the following athletes receive 2018/2019 Performance Awards. :- 

Welsh Junior ID Championships Monday 10 February 2020

This years Welsh ID Championships 1/2nd February, was an outstanding success for Cardiff Athletics athletes, winning a huge amount of medals across age groups and athletic disciplines. Photo shows first 3 in U20W 60m final. Emmanuella Kone Gold. Issie Tustin Silver. Sadie Graham-Mulvaney Bronze. Due to an initative by Lorrainne Graham-Mulvaney, Lorraine asked Colin Jackson (who attended Day2 of the Championship, with TV cameras, upon his main task that day), if he would present the medals to the 3 Cardiff girls. As you can see he obliged. Something that all the girls, and their parents will remember. Many people agreed WJC was an enjoyable experience for athletes, and their support groups.
